Bell Media’s Returning English and French-Language Original Programming Series Synopses for 2023/24

Returning Series: ACTING GOOD (Season 2) – CTV Comedy After falling flat on his face in the big city yet again, Paul (Paul Rabliauskas) returns home to find that his girlfriend Rose (Cheyenna Sapp) and his mother Agnes (Tina Keeper, NORTH OF 60) have shut him out. Without anywhere to live, Paul finds a temporary place to stay in the elders’ lodge but while there he’s forced into growing up. Meanwhile, Jo (Roseanne Supernault, THE DRIVE) enters the race for Chief of Grouse Lake but is stymied by Cousin Leon (Michael Greyeyes, RUTHERFORD FALLS) along the way. Once again, Canada will be the host nation in a battle of fan favourites and top talent from across the globe for the ultimate crown. (Blue Ant Studios, Saloon Media, World of Wonder) CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING (Season 3) – CTV *previously announced CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING returns for Season 3 with Astrid (Meaghan Rath, ACCUSED) and James (Aaron Abrams, BLINDSPOT)still trying to reclaim a little of that sweet pre-kid life, while tackling every complicated parenting issue thrown at them by their three kids: Felix (Logan Nicholson, BLUES CLUES AND YOU), a burgeoning tween, Viv (Mikayla SwamiNathan), a spirited six-year-old, and Morris, a newly mobile toddler. (New Metric Media) FARMING FOR LOVE (Season 2) – CTV An adaptation of the hit international format THE FARMER WANTS A WIFE, FARMING FOR LOVE, follows the journeys of rural Canadian singles on their quest for romance. In FARMING FOR LOVE, four Canadians searching for their soulmates open up their farms – and their hearts – to a select group of singles. As they live and work together, the daters immerse themselves in a series of farm chores, group activities, and intimate one-on-one dates, with the goal of finding their one true love. The CTV Original series consists of 10, one-hour episodes. (Lark Productions, Fremantle) FEAR THY NEIGHBOR (Season 9) – Discovery ID FEAR THY NEIGHBOR tells harrowing true stories of neighbor disputes that start over minor issues but escalate to shocking violence and tragedy. (Cream Productions) FORENSIC FACTOR (Season 7) – Discovery A homicide. A crime scene. A murderer among us. As investigators and families seek the answers behind the most terrible crimes, forensic specialists are on the hunt for the smallest, most crucial clues – clues often invisible to many. Moving behind the yellow tape, FORENSIC FACTOR continues to reveal how crime scene investigators find the smallest pieces of the puzzle, leading to the biggest breaks, all thanks to the ground-breaking science of forensics. The series also highlights incredible innovations in forensic science, and features experts as they share their unique perspectives from the field, creating a clear, personal account of what the scientific evidence reveals and what it means in the context of the investigation. (Bell Media Studios, Attraction) HIGHWAY THRU HELL (Season 12) – Discovery Highway Thru Hell follows recovery operators, highway crews and first responders who fight to keep the roads open in one of the most dangerous environments ever seen on TV. The Coquihalla and nearby highways through B.C.’s Cascade Mountains are notorious for some of the most extreme weather conditions anywhere. When it’s a whiteout blizzard at the top of ‘The Coq’ summit, 1200 meters below, in the Fraser Valley, it can be a torrential downpour. Add to that the busiest transportation corridor to and from the West Coast, Highway 1 (Trans Canada Hwy), and you have the ‘Bermuda Triangle’ of trucking. When everyone else is turning back, heavy rescue teams are relied on to charge straight into the storm. (Great Pacific Media) LAST OF THE GIANTS (Season 3) – Discovery Cyril and his team are back for a third season of the world-renowned series LAST OF THE GIANTS, with new perilous adventures in the most remote places on the planet, chasing the largest fish species for conservation purposes. From the wild archipelagos of Africa to the jungles of South America, the team will have to face the elements head-on as they search for these elusive and endangered wonders of nature. (Untamed Productions) LETTERKENNY (Season 12) – Crave *previously announced Starring Jared Keeso, the critically acclaimed half-hour, small-town comedy revolves around the dustups Wayne (Keeso) and his buds get into with their small-town rivals. The Hicks, The Skids, and The Hockey Players get at each other about the most mundane things, often ending with someone getting their ass kicked. (New Metric Media) MARY MAKES IT EASY (Season 3) – CTV Life The kitchen is Mary Berg’s happy place, and she wants it to be yours too. On this brand new season of MARY MAKES IT EASY, join Berg as she once again takes viewers step-by-step through recipes guaranteed to impress without the stress. From unexpected mashups, to travel-inspired recipe ideas, Berg’s thoughtful solutions leaves viewers with a newfound confidence to overcome any challenges they encounter on their culinary journey. The five-time Canadian Screen Award-winning series is filmed in Toronto at her very own home kitchen, the series follows Berg as she shares tips, tricks, and recipes to solve every day cooking conundrums. (Proper Television, a division of Boat Rocker Studios, Unscripted) MUD MOUNTAIN HAULERS *working title (Season 3) – Discovery *previously announced On Canada’s rugged west coast, pioneering forestry companies fight against brutal elements and unforgiving landscapes – pushing sustainable methods to harvest the wood, while protecting the forest. From a daring helicopter-logging operation on the rain-battered shores of Vancouver Island to the edge of the Northern Rockies, where an Indigenous community takes back stewardship of its own traditional land – welcome to the future of forestry. (Great Pacific Media) PILLOW TALK (Season 2) – Crave *previously announced PILLOW TALK follows the hilarity and drama experienced by five diverse couples and a pair of roommates, all in the intimacy of their bedrooms. ROAST BATTLE CANADA (Season 4) – CTV Comedy ROAST BATTLE CANADA sees two pairs of Canadian comics face-off in each episode, hurling ruthless jokes at each other in hopes of coming out unscathed and crowned victorious. Hosted by actor and comedian, Ennis Esmer, the series features a distinguished panel of judges led by comedy megastar, Russell Peters; along with writer, producer, actor, and all-around funny person, Sabrina Jalees; and comedian and semi-finalist in the original Roast Battle, K. Trevor Wilson. (Just For Laughs and Counterfeit Pictures) SHORESY (Season 2) – Crave *previously announced Created by and starring Jared Keeso, the six-episode, half-hour series follows the foul-mouthed, chirp-serving, mother-loving, fan favourite character, Shoresy (Keeso), and the embattled Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs as they continue their quest to never lose again. A hit with both fans and critics alike, Season 1 of SHORESY was the most-watched Canadian series debut in Crave history, and received rave reviews from both sides of the border, including the The New York Times who regarded the series, “as wild and filthy as its predecessor, absolutely bubbling over with indecency, and outrageousness in all of the best ways;” and The Globe and Mail who said “at last, a real hockey show about real hockey.” (New Metric Media in association with Play Fun Games) SULLIVAN’S CROSSING (Season 2) – CTV After disaster strikes at the Crossing, Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan, TRANSPLANT) returns to her father’s campground in Nova Scotia. There, she faces the difficult decision of choosing between her head and her heart, as she resigns herself to not repeating Sully (Scott Patterson, GILMORE GIRLS) and Phoebe’s (Lynda Boyd, VIRGIN RIVER) mistakes. When Sully’s financial difficulties come to light, Maggie, together with the help of Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray, ONE TREE HILL) and the other residents must work together to find a way to save their beloved Crossing. Still conflicted about her own future, Maggie continues to fight her growing feelings for Cal Jones, who has put his own past to rest and has made Sullivan’s Crossing his home. (Reel World Management with EP and Showrunner Roma Roth, Fremantle) SURREALESTATE (Season 2) – CTV Sci-Fi *previously announced Without his special abilities to see, hear, and speak to the supernatural entities that complicate his clients’ real estate transactions, Luke Roman (Tim Rozon, WYNONNA EARP) leans heavily on his eccentric team, even as his associate Susan (Sarah Levy, SCHITT’S CREEK) becomes captivated – and captured – by a mysterious home of her own. (Blue Ice Pictures) TRANSPLANT (Season 4) – CTV *previously announced Filming in Montreal this spring and summer, Season 4 of TRANSPLANT finds Bashir “Bash” Hamed (Hamza Haq, Viking) on the precipice of finishing his residency at York Memorial. His future uncertain once again, Bash and his sister Amira (Sirena Gulamgaus, CHAPELWAITE) are Canadian citizens now, but are still trying, with everything they have, to build a life in their adopted country. Coming off of the dramatic conclusion to Season 3, every character in TRANSPLANT’s ensemble is facing big and emotional questions about who they are and where they belong. The first three seasons of TRANSPLANT are available for streaming now on Crave, CTV.ca, and the CTV app. (Sphere Media, Universal International Studios) WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE (EVEN JAY BARUCHEL) (Season 2) – Crave Winner of four Canadian Screen Awards in 2023, including Best Factual Series, Jay Baruchel returns for another terrifying, but surprisingly hopeful, investigation of six ways the world could come to an end. French-Language Returning Series: ALLER SIMPLE (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced This season stars Anick Lemay and Jean-Nicolas Verreault as Detective Juliette Michaud and her spouse, Thomas Rouclair, who are forced to stay outside the city. During the stay, Thomas begins to spend many hours spying on the neighbours, a group of young environmentalists. Little by little, and intrigued by the details of their lives, he becomes convinced that a sinister plot is playing out before his eyes. Has one of the neighbours gone missing? And who is that stranger hanging around the group? Annoyed by Thomas’ fixation with his neighbours, Detective Michaud refuses to be drawn into his obsession—but may end up kicking herself. (Sphère Média) BIG BROTHER CÉLÉBRITÉS (Season 4) – Noovo *previously announced A group of Québec celebrities make their temporary home in the BIG BROTHER house. On camera, around the clock, they try to form alliances, avoid eviction, and ultimately become the champion of BIG BROTHER CÉLÉBRITÉS. Marie-Mai is back to host this Sunday evening institution. (Amadeus) CLUB SOLY (Season 3) – Noovo *previously announced Each week, at CLUB SOLY, Arnaud Soly and his band make us rediscover the big trends of the hour through a pretty bouquet of spicy sketches and a panoply of colourful characters who encourage us look at our society with a critical eye and lots of humour. (Encore Télévision) COMBIEN TU M’AIMES? (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced COMBIEN TU M’AIMES? is a reality show where four couples live together for four days to prove that their love is the strongest. Along with evaluating each other, the couples take a DNA test to quantify their compatibility. Will their romantic and genetic chemistry be strong enough to win them $3,500? (Sphère Média) COMPLÈTEMENT LYCÉE (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced COMPLÈTEMENT LYCÉÉ is a parody of American teen series, which follows a group of high school students who face the typical challenges of adolescence. Forbidden love, hip-hop dancing, hypersexualization, mysterious disappearances, incurable diseases, sexy vampires, and problematic sexual urges are all featured in this season that parodies the likes of DAWSON’S CREEK, THIRTEEN, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and CHOUCHOU. (Productions J) CONTRE-OFFRE (Season 4) – Noovo *previously announced Team Lévesque is hit by the real estate market slump. Christine plans her maternity leave while Marcel suffers from post-traumatic stress. Daphnée is looking for Mr. Right, but Jade tries abstaining from sex to avoid becoming distracted. (Pixcom) CRINQUÉ (season 2) – Z *previously announced CRINQUÉ is a documentary series that reveals Pierre Michaud, surrounded by car enthusiasts, in his quest to restore classic cars. Season 2 features the restoration of a 1963 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible into an electric car with the help of the Ness Custom team. (TORQ-Océan) ENTRE DEUX DRAPS (Season 4) – Noovo *previously announced In Season 4 of Noovo’s hit series ENTRE DEUX DRAPS, some people move, while others see their loved ones transform before their eyes. People change careers, or go back to school. Others grow old, or remain perpetual adolescents. For some, it’s the start of a new adventure, while others have to face the harsh realities of life… and change their hairdresser. (KOTV) J’AI FRÔLÉ LA MORT (Season 2) – Canal D *previously announced The documentary series J’AI FRÔLÉ LA MORT offers gripping stories of men and women who have found themselves in perilous situations where their lives were at stake. Host Mathieu Baron helps each survivor tell his or her story while highlighting the key moments of the crisis. He also meets with witnesses, loved ones, and experts to provide further perspective on what happened. (Attraction) JE VIENS VERS TOI (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced Marc Labrèche stars in this laid-back talk show, drawing inspiration from hot (or not) topics that he tackles in his own unique way. Along with his many collaborators, an all-star band, and a sympathetic audience, there are sketches, parodies and a “reality show”—not to mention a featured guest, who takes part in all the fun. (Pamplemousse Média) LA FAMILLE EST DANS LE PRÉ (Season 4) – Canal Vie *previously announced In Season 4 of LA FAMILLE EST DANS LE PRÉ, Ludovic and Jennifer are back with their five kids — and a baby on the way! For Jérôme and Jessyca, life with seven children remains a whirlwind. Clara and Gabriel are now the parents of two girls. Alex and David still have lots of plans in mind and continue looking for the best way to become parents. Luc and Melissa, surrounded by their four children, finally celebrate their marriage. And this season will also catch up with Joé and Andréanne from Season 10 of L’AMOUR EST DANS LE PRÉ, who are expecting their first child while dealing with the challenges of building their own farm. (Attraction) LA FAMILLE GROULX (Season 7) – Canal Vie *previously announced The Groulx family is eager to turn the page on 2022 and start a new season on a positive note. Pascal and Tara finally embark on their honeymoon – with the kids in tow! After adding a new storey to the house, the family decides to extend the driveway to make room for seven cars and an RV. Also new this season: Pascal and Tara focus on their own well-being as they sign up to a gym. Plus, Tara decides to take care of her hernia and Pascal deals with turning 40 and his desire to start enjoying life. There’s never a dull moment with this larger-than-life family! (Attraction) L’EMPEREUR (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced Manuela’s lawsuit against Christian Savard is in progress. Will Rosie decide to take a turn on the stand? Christian still has resources at his disposal. Will we finally discover the nature of his inner demons? What will it take to bring down the emperor? (Sovimage) LE GRAND MOVE EN AMÉRIQUE (Season 3) – Canal Vie *previously announced Directed and hosted by Mariloup Wolfe, this 10-episode docuseries,  explores the lives of 10 Québec families who have left the province to go live abroad (i.e., elsewhere in Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean or Central America). (Productions Lustitia) LE MAÎTRE DU JEU (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced Louis Morissette is back to host this show that delivers laughter and chaos, adapted from the popular British series TASKMASTER. This year, Mona de Grenoble, Marie-Lyne Joncas, Kevin Raphaël, Phil Roy, and Tammy Verge will once again tackle a host of challenges in the hope of earning the favour of LE MAÎTRE DU JEU (“Gamemaster”) and being crowned champion of the season. (KOTV) LES DÉBATTEURS DE NOOVO (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced LES DÉBATTEURS DE NOOVO is the day’s hottest newsworthy topic, seasoned debaters and 30 minutes of hard-hitting exchanges! Host Michel Bherer is surrounded by a diverse, experienced and representative team of debaters who will take a frank look at current events. Over 44 days, 20 contestants stranded on a tropical island must face extreme mental and physical challenges while also finding strategic ways to avoid elimination. The last survivor standing will claim the grand prize of $100,000. (Productions J) UNE AFFAIRE CRIMINELLE (Season 2) – Noovo *previously announced Season 2 of anthology series UNE AFFAIRE CRIMINELLE follows the lives of two Montréal detectives whose lives are turned upside down. During a police operation, Laurence shoots a witness who revealed important information about the disappearance of her father, a former detective. The Independent Investigations Office is called in to determine whether the young policewoman committed murder or acted legitimately in self-defence. Viewers will discover a new plot and a remarkable new cast.
